Treat yourself by visiting one of the many art galleries and craft outlets.
More than just painting and sculpture, artists of the Barossa create beautiful quilts, photographs and jewellery. Locals are also masters of the forgotten art of cooperage, making their own wine barrels!
Virtually every town boasts its own art collection, tucked into a coffee shop, retail outlet or winery. Cellar doors at Peter Lehmann Winery, Gomersal Wines and Kabminye Wines also feature local artistry alongside their wines.
Festivals and exhibitions
The Barossa Regional Gallery in Tanunda is home to the Barossa Vintage Festival art collection. It plays host to an ever changing variety of local and touring exhibitions.
Tanunda's Old Mill Gallery is full of paintings and drawings inspired by the Barossa. The nearby MG McRae Gallery favours impressionist art by local Darren McCrae.
Fine art in the region has a home at the Peter Franz Fine Art Gallery in Lyndoch.
An 1865 post office houses the Barossa Historical Museum in Tanunda. Some artefacts featured are a vintage organ, model of Wartburg castle and Samuel Hoffmann pottery. There are many great remnants of German heritage in the area.
